Builders Temporary Supply (BTS) Terms & Conditions

- Additional Fees and Charges
- All fees and charges are in NZD and exclusive of GST.
- If we attend the Customer’s site on the agreed dates and the site is not ready for installation or livening, the Customer will be charged a site visit fee of $115.00.
- Site visits 20 kilometres outside of Christchurch Central will incur a rural call- out fee of $90.00 per hour of travel and $1.55 per kilometre travelled.
Please note: Rural jobs are normally scheduled for a Tuesday and Thursday to allow for travel costs to be shared across jobs where possible. - The lease period begins following livening of the builders temporary supply only. The builders temporary supply may be installed before it is livened, but this does not count as the start date of the lease period.
- The minimum lease period is six-months. The six-month fee must be paid at the same time as the set-up costs. The monthly lease period begins following installation and livening of the builders temporary supply. The Customer will not be reimbursed if the duration of the lease is less than six calendar months. If the Customer still requires the builders temporary supply after the six-month lease period ends the Customer will be charged the appropriate lease fees, or as agreed with the Customer.
- As mutually agreed, and/or requested the Customer will be invoiced for any additional lease term requirements additional to the first six-month term.
- We are required by AS/NZS 3012:2010 3.4.2 to complete a Certificate of Verification (COV) of the builders temporary supply installation every six-months following installation and livening. This is to verify the operational safety of the Builders temporary supply installation on the Customers site. The Customer will be charged $145.00 for each COV.
- The Customer will be charged a site visit fee of $115.00 if Safe Power Services are required to attend the installation site for any reason outside the scope of our standard connection service process. The fee will be waived where site visit is due to improper performance of our service, or operation of our builders temporary supply, and the Customer is not responsible for the fault.
- If the Customer fails to meet payment of the six-monthly lease charges or any other payments due, Safe Power Services reserves the right to remove its builders temporary supply from site. Such action is at the sole discretion of Safe Power Services.
- The Customer must ensure the builders temporary supply lid is closed and secure on site. The Customer will be provided a key to unlock the lid to access the mains switch and RCDs. The Customer will be charged a replacement fee of $15 if key is lost.
- The Customer is responsible for any damage or loss incurred to the builders temporary supply while installed on their site and will be charged the full cost of repair or replacement of s $750.00 (single phase supply) and $1,250.00 (customised supply).
- Standard Installation
- The standard builders temporary supply installation includes supplying up to four metres of 16mm single core neutral screen (1CNS) service mains cable, up to two metres of trenching inside the property boundary and erecting the builders temporary supply on a post. The standard install usually applies when the network connection point is an Orion distribution box located directly on the site’s boundary. It is the Customer’s responsibility to ensure the site is clear to allow installation of the builders temporary supply.
- If the Customer foresees that our standard install is not suitable for their site, they will need to contact us to discuss alternative installation and costing prior to us engaging in any
work on their behalf. - If the network connection point is not located within the site or directly on the site boundary, service mains cable will need to be installed from the connection point to site. If the site is a rear property or was previously connected overhead from a pole additional work may be required to trench mains cable into site. Safe Power Services will discuss options and pricing with the Customer in these situations.
- If we are connecting the builders temporary supply to existing on-site service mains and the length is insufficient to allow install of our builders temporary supply, we will extend the service mains to the required length at an additional cost. This cost will be a variation.
- The Customer requires permission from Orion to connect to their network. The Customer will need to apply to Orion for a Builders Temporary Supply here.
- Once we have received payment of initial set-up costs as well as authority from Orion and the Customer’s energy retailer to liven the connection, we will then schedule installation and livening of the builders temporary supply with the Customer. Please note that while every effort will be made to ensure the builders temporary supply is installed and livened on the dates requested, we cannot guarantee the installation will be completed in the estimated We will keep the Customer informed if there are any changes to the schedule.
- When our inspector livens the builders temporary supply he may, at his discretion, lock the lid to prevent unauthorised access as it is a potential If the project manager is on-site a key will be given to them at that time. If not, Safe Power Services will contact the Customer advising the builders temporary supply is now live and that the project manager can arrange to collect a key.
- When the Customer requires the builders temporary supply removed, the Customer is required to advise the Supplier as soon as possible to ensure that the Supplier can collect from site.
- Correct operation of Safe Power Services Builders Temporary Supply
- The Customer must follow all operational instructions provided by Safe Power Services.
- The Customer must check that the Residual-Current Devices (RCDs) are correctly functioning every week. To perform this test the Customer must unlock and open the lid. Then the Customer pushes the yellow test button on the RCDs labelled “EARTH PROTECTION”. The grey switches on each RCD should immediately flick down. If the test is successful, the RCD switches can be turned on and after securing the lid the Customer can operate the builders temporary supply as per normal. If the test switch fails to trip the RCD, the Customer must turn the mains switch off and contact Safe Power Services immediately. The Customer must ensure the builders temporary supply is not used until Safe Power advises otherwise.
- Ensure the outlets are switched off when inserting and removing equipment. Do not use equipment rated above 10 amps in any socket, or if custom outlets have been installed, exceed the amperage rating of those outlets. Please use the cord grips provided to prevent accidental damage to the socket outlets.
- If the Customers appliances stop working when plugged into the temporary builders temporary supply turn all RCD and mains switches to the off position, wait one minute and turn them back on. If there is still no power disconnect the Customers equipment from the builders temporary supply and try powering other appliances to see if there is a fault in an appliance. Faulty equipment will cause the RCD to If after following these instructions, the Customer are still not able to power the Customers equipment please phone Safe Power Services on 03 343 3814. If our equipment has failed, we will replace or repair it, at our cost, provided it is not caused by damage or misuse by the owner incurred at the Customers site.
- If the Customer fails to follow the operating instructions Safe Power Services reserves the right to remove its builders temporary supply from site. Such action is at the sole discretion of Safe Power Services.
