Meter Relocation Terms & Conditions
- The Agreement
1.1 You (the Customer) agree to be bound by the following terms and conditions of this Agreement to book our Meter Relocation Service.
1.2 This Agreement comes into effect following completion of our online application form.
- Charges and Fees
2.1 Please see our Meter Relocation Service Fees.
2.2 All prices are exclusive of GST. Installs and site visits outside of Christchurch City will incur a rural call-out fee of $1.20 per kilometre (e.g. Rolleston, Lincoln, West Melton).
2.3 The Customer will be charged a site visit fee of $85 if we attend site on the date it is booked in for meter relocation and inspection and site is not ready. We will work with the Customer to find a mutually agreeable date for meter relocation; it is the Customer’s responsibility to ensure site is ready on the agreed upon date.
2.4 Payment must be received within seven working days of date of invoice.
- Standard Meter Relocation
3.1 The standard Meter Relocation includes the isolation and removal of our temporary supply Lease Box. We then relocate the meters from our Lease Box into the permanent meter box or install new meters. Our inspector will then inspect and liven the permanent connection.
3.2 If the network connection point is outside the sites boundary the Customer must ensure network mains cable is laid from the connection point (e.g. pole, distribution box) to the property boundary. If the service mains cable laid from the house is not joined to the service mains laid from the connection point the site will require a thru-joint. The standard cost for this is $300.
3.3 If the network connection point is a distribution box on the sites boundary the thru-joint will not be required where the Customer has laid mains cable from the permanent meter box to the distribution box. If the Customer has laid mains cable to our Lease Box installation instead of running it to the distribution box the mains cable will require a thru-joint. The standard cost for this is $300.
3.3 If the Customer thinks that our standard meter relocation is not suitable for their site, they will need to contact us and arrange an alternative meter relocation process prior to us engaging in any work on their behalf.
3.4 If our Lease Box was not livened as a permanent connection the Customer will need to have authority to connect to the Orion network. Once the Customer has made the initial application to the Orion Network website they can provide us with the ES number and fill in the required information on our application sheet and we will progress the application on their behalf. The Customer is solely responsible for paying all Orion Network connection fees. Please note that livening the permanent connection can take upwards of six weeks to complete. The Customer is advised to apply well in advance of their preferred meter relocation date to avoid delays.
3.5 If our Lease Box was livened as a permanent connection we only require authority from the Customer’s energy retailer to perform a meter relocation. Some of the energy retailers will not allow Safepower to apply for a meter relocation on the Customer’s behalf, in this situation we will instruct the Customer to make the request themselves and to nominate Safepower Services as the livening agent. The Customer is solely responsible for payment of all fees charged by their energy retailer.
3.6 Once we have received authority from Orion (where applicable) and the Customer’s energy retailer to relocate the meters, we will then schedule the date of meter relocation with the Customer. Please note that while every effort will be made to ensure the meters are relocated on the date requested, this will be dependent on our workload as we may have prior bookings. We will keep the Customer informed if there are any changes to the schedule.
3.7 If we attend the Customers site on the agreed dates and site is not ready for the meter relocation and final inspection and livening, the Customer will be charged a site visit fee.
